Diarium was born from the encounter between the question “What evidence are we able to pass on to history?” (the theme launched at the Triennial Exhibition of Visual Arts in Rome 2020) and the inspirational “Work Well Done” a movement founded by Vincenzo Moretti.
The idea was shaped from the attempt to translate the answer to this question into an artistic message: an intertwining of narration, testimony and History. So, that’s how Diarium was conceived. Thus was born “Diarium – The diary of history”.
In Diarium the stories become History and History becomes a story: “To be there is to be part of the story ” and everyone becomes spectator, a lead star , a narrator and a message shaper. This is why in Diarium you can see the author’s soul shining through as well as all the others characters mirroring themselves in it.
Diarium is an open book, from which history radiates as light: a lesson from the past that projects us into the future, illuminating the details of a plodding present, that is a cosmic present.

The work
The Masterpiece is made of steel and was born from a meticulous search for the golden ratio. The work’s architectural study is inspired by the mathematical perfection that from Vitruvius to Leonardo Da Vinci to Le Corbusier founded a harmonic representation of art.
All was born from a book: the artifact, in its geometry, it develops from the page of a book, a page that measures 15 cm that creates, through the golden ratios, the architecture and symmetries of the entire work. 11 pages made of AISI 304 18-10 steel with fiber laser cutting, two have a greater thickness, 4 mm; they are the first and back cover of the monument, the beginning and the end of the artistic narrative. On them the light rises and sets, but at the same time it radiates with disruptive force towards the reader.
The hand satin finish of the pages with a horizontal sign suggests that the story is entirely to be written: a Diary in fact whose narrative form is inspired by the work in its complexity. The top view of the pages, TIG welded on a 2.168 mm thick base (the golden ratio multiplied by itself), recreates the suggestion of a building and highlights and its foundations.
Finally, the luminous element breaks the coldness of the steel with the warmth of a 3000K LED lights that gives dynamism to the work with a play of light and shadow, inspired by the rising and setting of the sun.

INTERACT WITH the soul of the diarium
The narrative form of the diary collects the three dimensions of the story: the past, the present, the future. The pages, half lit, are the past and the present; the part in shadow is up to the public.
The true technological heart of Diarium is the connection between the luminous element of the work and remote viewers, who have the opportunity to interact and write their story with light and merge into a testimony that leaves future generations the warning of a present “well done”.
